Posted on 17/08/2009
von Essen hotels teams with Harvey Nichols to showcase the culinary expertise of three of its Michelin starred Chefs
3 Stars, 3 Cities is an exceptional experience awaiting Harvey Nichols diners in London, Leeds and Bristol during British Food Fortnight this September. For one week only, three von Essen head chefs from one the UK’s finest collection of hotels, will be moving their Michelin starred cuisine from the country into the city via the Harvey Nichols kitchens. Each of these top three chefs will serve a variety of menus in collaboration with the Harvey Nichols chefs.
Dates and venues Kenny Atkinson, Head Chef at the Seaham Hall Hotel, Co. Durham and winner of the starter course on BBC2’s Great British Menu will work with Richard Walton-Allen, Head Chef of the Fourth Floor Café, Leeds from 29th September to 4th October
Chris Horridge, Executive Head Chef at Cliveden’s Waldo’s restaurant was voted by Food & Wine as ‘one of the worlds most exciting restaurants to eat in 2009’. Chris will work with Louise McCrimmon, Head Chef at the Second Floor Restaurant, Bristol from 29th September to 1st October
Michelin Starred for thirteen consecutive years Sharrow Bay in the Lake District’s head Chef Mark Teasdale returns to collaborate with Jonas Karlsson at the Fifth Floor Restaurant, London from 25th September to 1st October
Each chef’s contribution promises to be unique, with three different menus available in each restaurant. The guest chefs will take charge of the tasting menus, with the Harvey Nichols chefs contributing complementary dishes (£55 for six courses in Knightsbridge and Leeds or £45 for six courses in Bristol).
Roles will be reversed for the a la Carte menu, while the lunch menus will be handled by the guest chefs (£19.50 for two courses and £24.50 for three courses in Knightsbridge, £16.50 for two courses and £19.50 for three courses in Leeds, and £15 for two courses and £18 for three in Bristol). To top it all off guest sommeliers will select accompanying wines from the Harvey Nichols’ extensive wine lists.
To further enhance the special dining experiences throughout the week, guest sommeliers will select accompanying wines from the Harvey Nichols’ extensive wine lists.
Each guest chef will feature some of their key signature dishes. Leeds diners are in for a really special treat with the opportunity to sample Kenny Atkinson’s famous starter of Aberdeen Angus beef, carrots, horseradish and Shetland black potato crisps, which propelled him into the winning four in the final of the Great British Menu this year. Seaham Hall’s Kenny Atkinson is renowned for his support of local North Eastern suppliers and produce, which he will be championing at the Fourth Floor Café.
Chris Horridge, Executive chef of Cliveden, will be preparing first-class cuisine in the Bristol branch of Harvey Nichols. Chris is pioneering what he terms ‘3 dimensional cuisine’ which is based on balancing presentation, flavour and nutrition in every dish. A number of his innovative and nutritionally balanced ‘without’ dishes which are virtually sugar, gluten and dairy free will be featured on his menus for the Second Floor Restaurant.
Sharrow Bay’s Mark Teasdale will be cooking in the flagship Knightsbridge store. Mark is familiar to Fifth Floor Restaurant diners as they joined forces with Jonas Karlsson at last years hugely successful British Food Fortnight where their world famous Sticky Toffee Pudding was a sell-out. It is due to this initial success that Harvey Nichols and von Essen hotels have decided to continue with this unique collaboration, establishing an annual event and providing a rare opportunity for diners to experience some of the top Michelin starred gastronomy in Harvey Nichols.
